How to verify my identity?
Follow the steps below after opening the Careem App
- Tap on ‘Pay’.
- Tap ‘Identity verification needed’ and select ‘Verify now’.
- Grant camera permissions and select ‘Start your verification’.
- ID Submission: Capture clear photos of the front and back of your Emirates ID.
- Alternative: If you don't have the physical card, you can upload a digital PDF downloaded directly from the ICP app. - Review the on-screen guidelines, select ‘Start Camera’, and fit your face into the frame. Follow the prompts to complete the liveness check.
- Once submitted, wait for the success message. Your verification status will be updated in the Careem Pay section.
Note: If you send money before verification is complete, your transaction will be queued and sent automatically once you are verified.
Troubleshooting Tips
If you encounter an error, please ensure:
- Camera Access: Permissions are enabled for the Careem app in your phone settings.
- Document Quality: Your EID is on a flat surface with no glare or blur. All text must be clearly visible.
- Lighting: You are in a well-lit room (avoid dark areas or direct glaring lights).
- Clear View: Your face is fully visible. Remove hats, masks, eyeglasses, or any items covering your face.
- Document type: Only current, up-to-date UAE Emirates IDs are accepted. Foreign documents are not supported.
