Adding a card:
- Go to Pay on the app home screen.
- Lift the blue drawer at the bottom of the screen.
- Select 'Add a card'.
- Enter your card number, expiration date (MM/YY), CVV/CSC number, and nickname (optional).
- Tap ‘Verify card’.
Note:
- We may send an OTP to your registered mobile number for authentication.
- Sometimes, we'll verify your card by placing a small amount on hold (not an actual charge), which will be released automatically.
- Your card details are kept safe and secure.
- Careem will never call you to ask for any personal information (Complete card number, PIN, security question, CVV, expiry date of the card, or any other personal/hidden data). Please remain alert to all such messages/calls and never give out your personal information to anyone over the phone or online.
What if I face an error while adding a card?
If you encounter an error, follow these steps:
- Check the app version: Reinstall the Careem app to ensure you're on the latest version.
- 3DS verification*: If your card supports 3DS authentication, complete all steps for successful card addition.
- Bank issue: Confirm with your bank that they have authorised Careem for online transactions.
*3DS is an authentication method that provides an additional layer of authentication for credit card transactions, protecting against fraudulent actors. 3DS asks customers to verify their identity with the card issuer during payment.
Removing a card?
Simply follow the below steps.
- Go to ‘Pay’ on the app home screen.
- Lift the blue drawer at the bottom of the screen.
- Click on 'Debit and Credit cards'.
- Tap on 'Edit' next to the card you want to remove.
- Tap on 'Remove this card from wallet'.
